We took the liberty of paraphrasing the iconic John “Hannibal” Smith from The A-Team to celebrate a success beyond all expectations: the Battleplan demo has exceeded every forecast. It has been downloaded by over 25,000 players.
And they didn’t just download it, install it, and play for ten minutes — as typically happens on average with a demo released on Steam. The players who downloaded Battleplan demo truly devoured it, playing for an average of more than an hour and a half — a clear sign that they enjoyed it and can’t wait to try the other missions beyond the first one included in the demo.
“Thank you to all the players who downloaded and played the Battleplan demo,” said Marco Alessandro Minoli, Director of Publishing at Slitherine. “We typically approach Steam Next Fest with caution due to the event’s crowded nature. However, with Battleplan, we wanted to experiment. Our goal was to use a short demo to gather feedback on our innovative gameplay mechanics, which require careful balancing and community input to perfect. The results are in, and we are incredibly satisfied—both by the number of players who jumped in and the high caliber of feedback we received.
Scheduled for release in mid-2026, Battleplan is a unique RTS of its kind. Set during the crucial phase of the Allied landing in Europe and the weeks following D-Day, it literally puts players in the shoes of the general commanding the Allied troops. It offers a completely new perspective, where players will lead infantry and mechanized divisions, unleash artillery barrages, and decide where to concentrate the attack simply by drawing orders directly on the map.
To celebrate the enormous success of the Battleplan demo, Slitherine has decided to keep it available for an additional week: it will be possible to download it until
March 11th.
Battleplan is coming soon from publisher Slitherine and developer Foolish Mortals.
Slitherine is a publisher with strong expertise in historical titles, especially those focused on World War II, like Panzer Corps 2, Strategic Command WWII, and Headquarters: World War II, all successful releases.
Foolish Mortals has developed several indie strategy games with a distinctive twist, including Radio General, where players control their troops using only a radio and a map, and Kaiju Wars, a tactical game inspired by classic kaiju films.
Battleplan combines the developer’s indie spirit with the experience of its UK publisher, well versed in the world of strategy games
